The 2001 Antarctic field season for GERG researchers begins November 11 when they depart for McMurdo Station. They will be on site through the third week of December. Research activities, photographs and sampling progress will be posted here as they are transmitted from the station.

We are pleased to have Marietta Cleckley, a science teacher at Uniondale High School in Uniondale New York, as part of our McMurdo Station field team this season. She is joining the GERG team as part of the Teachers Experiencing Antarctica and the Arctic (TEA). This program is a research experience in which a K-12 teacher participates in a polar expedition.
