Friday we continued to work in two sampling teams; a marine sampling (Guy,
Kristi, Marietta, and Sally) and a terrestrial sampling (Andrew and Steve)
team. One marine station was occupied, Station 26. The divers collected
sediment samples and fish samples. Water samples and a CTD cast were also
collected at this station. A total of 38 terrestrial samples were collected
in the hills to the north, overlooking McMurdo Station. The photo shows
Kristi working on the Microtox instrument, testing the toxicity of sediment
samples collected by the divers. We had the opportunity to visit the inside
of Discovery Hut located on Hut Peninsula, just west of McMurdo Station
(see photos).
