Station S39

The GYRE arrived on Station S39 at 5:44 GMT on June 6, 2000 and we finished all sampling at 6:21 GMT on June 7, 2000. A number of waterspouts (A) were spotted in the distance while we were sampling this 3000 m deep station. The 150th boxcore was retrieved today! We had another trawl filled with iron stone but without fish. The attached photo (B) portrays the two octopi that were caught in the trawl.
