Sampling at this 360 m deep station designated S43 was accomplished in a mere 10 hours upon the Gyre's arrival at 11:28 GMT on June 10, 2000. The attached photo (A) portrays R.J. Wilson, one of the winch operators, making a minor repair to the boxcore. The trawl net recovered many interesting organisms. Chris Gudeman, the noon to midnight watch leader, is shown in the attached photo (B) holding up a big goosefish that was caught in the trawl net. Another photo (C) displays David Methven with a Urophycis cirrata from the trawl.
