R/V Gyre arrived on Station S35 at 17:07 GMT on June 11, 2000 and we finished all sampling at 2:50 GMT on June 12, 2000. This station is located on the West side of the De Soto Canyon near a disused explosives dumping site and is at a depth of 674 meters. While sampling, we enjoyed watching numerous schools of jumping and feeding tuna and we caught and released one of the sharks that was swimming around the boat. The trawl net brought up 16 species of fish including four gapers, one of which can be seen in the attached photo (A). We also retrieved big barnacles (B), crabs, sea cucmbers, shells, and 2 octopi.
