GYRE arrived on Station C7 at 17:06 on May 30, 2000 and we finished all sampling at 4:11 GMT on May 31, 2000. This station was 1070 m in depth. The sea was very smooth today, making it easier to sample the depths. The underwater digital camera captured many images including one of a shrimp and one portraying a starfish. The trawl caught a small but diverse array of fish and invertebrates. The trawl catch, however, consisted mainly of pelagic organisms indicating that the trawl might not have reached bottom.
