GYRE arrived on Station RW2 at 14:27 GMT on May 22, 2000 and we finished all sampling at 1:23 GMT on May 23, 2000. We enjoyed the company of about 20 short finned pilot whales as we were sampling the 950 m deep station. We concluded the sampling of this station with a beam trawl and recovered shrimp, a sponge, a hermit crab and a packed plankton net.
