Gyre arrived on Station AC1 at 16:58 GMT on May 19, 2000 and finsihed all sampling at 15:15 GMT on May 20, 2000. This station is located in Alaminos Canyon at a depth of 2500 m. We did 2 CTD casts to sample this deep station. The attached photo (AC1LES~1.jpg) displays Leslie Zendai analyzing a water sample collected with the 12-bottle rosette for oxygen concentration. The underwater digital camera captured many images portraying sea cucumbers, shrimp, glass sponges, and starfish feeding depressions. Due to loss of the net we did not deploy any trawl net at this station.
